Today was a very good day…..it was one of our more relaxing days that we have had. However we got to learn so much of our School’s history. We went to visit both Monte Casino and Subiaco, these are two of the Monastery’s that St. Benedict started. We got on a private tour bus right outside our residency (this was sooo nice) and headed on a 2-hour bus ride to Monte Casino. This was a little scary at the end because it is on top of a very high hill, and when you are in a big bus it just doesn’t seem like a safe idea. Once we got there we had a tour of the place and got some of the history behind it. The original church had been bombed so this was an exact replica and I thought it was a very pretty church……we even found our school’s monastery on the ceiling in the basement of the church. After we were done there we got back on the bus for another little 2 hour bus ride up to Subiaco. This might be one of my favorite places that we have visited. This monastery was built into the side of a mountain, so most of the walls where real rock from the mountain. While we were there I decided that when I grow up I want to live in a cave. This place was so beautiful and peaceful. I am not really sure why but I just felt like it would be a good place to live in the future! While we were here we also got to smell one of the best smelling rose that I have ever smelled. I thought that they were just being silly when they told me to smell it, but they were not. So I even have to get a picture of me smelling it! After we were done we had a nice little bus ride back to Rome, and Katie and I had our own little dance party in our seats. It was a good day for sure!
